Riot Games has a big response for Voyboy’s LoL NA solo queue rant
The competitive matchmaking system in League of Legends was a hot topic in the past week. His most emphasized point of contention was the behavior of other players, specifically teammates. Griefing can be done through text chat by using slurs or insults to upset other players, but automated text filters can catch these offenders with adequate regularity although the more inventive griefers can still find workarounds.
The bigger issue, however, is when players grief through gameplay. Most instances of griefing are fairly blatant to the human eye.
“It’s important to us that competitive matchmaking in VALORANT is focused on teamplay, because we believe that playing as a team is a major.
I swear it feels like whoever coded the game’s MM had a bad experience with some toxic random and decided to punish everyone without the luxury of a premade by putting them in a lose lose situation, let me elaborate. First they put you in a lobby full of predator premades preds seem more common than any other rank it feels , then once you and your uncoordinated bunch of farm animals gets lobotomized by said premades the game proceeds to put you in lobbies with lower and lower level champion squads, sounds good right?
GG EZ 20 bombs all around? Well not really since your teammates are equally new and useless loot hogs who don’t want to hot drop with their experienced jump master out of fear of dying early or something but usually end up dead and gone before I can do anything about it anyway. I don’t know what this toxic person said to you Mr coder guy but could you chill a little and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves maybe?
March – last edited March. Tonight has been awful , been playing well With 14kills being my highest tonight and 4 kills being my lowest , but had two arguments , been called every name under the sun and basically running round without a team every match bar 1. Solo Queue: An Unpopular Way to Fix the Problems Described by Voyboy
We recently reported on why dynamic queue sucks and Riot have attempted to fix some of the issues we addressed. Using this new system you can climb the ladder with any number of teammates. A key feature of the new system was the ability to pick a primary and secondary role. Meaning you are pretty much guaranteed to get one of the roles you selected. This feature was meant to reduce arguing over roles in the lobby and match players to the appropriate roles.
Although it all sounded good in theory when Riot released it, major problems started to arise shortly after its release.
Since this ranking system is based off of the LoL one, shouldn’t we also have a solo queue and rank to go with it? It’s really annoying to have.
Matchmaking is the existing automated process in League of Legends that matches a player to and against other players in games. The system estimates how good a player is based on whom the player beats and to whom the player loses. It knows pre-made teams are an advantage, so it gives pre-made teams tougher opponents than if each player had queued alone or other premades of a similar total skill level Riot Games Inc.
The basic concept is that the system over time understands how strong of a player you are, and attempts to place you in games with people of the same strength. As much as possible, the game tries to create matches that are a coin flip between players who are about the same skill. The Matchmaking System works along with a modified version of the Elo system.
From there, the game is played. If a player wins, the player gain points. On the contrary, if the player loses, he loses points. If the win was “unexpected” i. There are some problems with this, but it generally works out, especially if people use pre-mades a little bit. The System do a few little things to nudge the Elo rating in the right direction when you start out so that people get where they need to get faster. Additionally, newer players gain and lose points more rapidly so that they are able to play in their skill level faster.
Players aren’t happy with the lack of solo queue in Valorant
This has been one of the most heated issues within the League community since dynamic queue was released at the start of the year. Previously, when playing in League ‘s ranked ladder, players could only queue up as a solo player solo queue or with a similarly-skilled partner duo queue. When dynamic queue was introduced, it brought with it three major changes:.
The competitive matchmaking system in League of Legends was a hot topic in the past week. Popular streamer Joedat “Voyboy” Esfahani.
Highly anticipated by players, its ranking system hasn’t universally been accepted, and very little information about it has been given. We don’t know how many points we need to score to climb the ladder, or how much damage is significant in the points we earn, or whether or not scouting — with Sova ‘s Recon Bolt or Cypher ‘s Spycam for example — is really taken into account for less offensive-minded agents. For Myth , the popular TSM streamer, one of the real issues is the fact that solo or duo players can come up against teams of five.
During one of his streams, he confessed that he wanted to play in Competitive mode without having to go it alone in terms of dialogue with teammates. Communication and timing being essential factors in the game, playing alone without knowing whether you’ll be able to talk with your teammates — while the opposing team has the advantage of playing together — doesn’t seem fair.
A similar system has already been implemented in League of Legends , with two separate ranked ladders for players. Hopefully Riot Games will react quickly. According to him, Valorant’s matchmaking deserves to be improved. Also, being able to play with a team of four when tagging solo doesn’t help at all.
LoL Solo Queue Problems and the Solution Riot Never Acknowledges
Riot Games has finally responded to the League of Legends community’s ongoing complaints about “malicious players” ruining ranked and solo queue games. For a long time, the League community has felt that Riot failed to respond to claims that their MOBA’s playerbase has become increasingly toxic, to the point where gameplay has been significantly affected. Former League of Legends pro Joedat “Voyboy” Esfahani decided to take it upon himself to become a spokesperson for the community on the issue.
Voyboy ranted about Riot’s ongoing disregard over toxic players, noting that this large group of players who aren’t just aggressive and rude, but fail to cooperate with their team, practice stream sniping, and purposely feed during competitive matches when things aren’t going their way. Basically, they are getting in the way of their teammates’ success.

How players climb Riot’s ladder to the League of Legends pros. Even professional League players have to start somewhere, and while many have been playing since the first few seasons , new players burst on to the scene all the time. Every single League of Legends pro has worked their way through the ranked ladders to Master, GrandMaster, and Challenger, the brutally competitive final ranked tiers. LoL Ranking Explained. In any other sport, you play against an individual who somewhat matches your skills.
You’re both qualifying for the same tournament because of your shared abilities, or in professional sports, you’re playing against individuals and teams who have also earned their spots as opponents. E-games shouldn’t be any different, which is why there’s a ranking system in League of Legends. The ranking system allows players of equal caliber to play against each other, as opposed to a more experienced player having to take on someone new to the game or an introductory player immediately being outwitted by a long-term LoL champ.
